Adult Ministries

Adult Classes
One of the most convenient and effective ways of growing in your understanding of the spiritual life is to make a habit of attending one or more of the many classes offered on Sunday mornings. There are more than 20 teachers at SFC who have committed themselves to teaching over 40 courses during the next few years.
Community Bible Study (CBS)
Come and discover who Jesus really is! The Gospel of John, written by John the apostle, a devoted follower of Christ, is a warm intimate study of the life and ministry of Jesus, the Word incarnate. Life applications are drawn from His relationships with individuals and their distinct needs. The study encourages students to investigate the gospel first-hand, to understand Christ’s claims and to respond to the truth.
The class is for men and women and begins September 13, 2010, from 7:25–9:00 pm. The format includes personal study, small-group discussion, class lectures, excellent commentaries, and monthly small-group socials.
For more information call Katherine McEnroe, Teaching Director at (408)267-9348, evenings and weekends.
Focus on Prayer

Join us for an hour of prayer the First Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm and the Third Sunday at 4:00 pm in the library. It’s a wonderful way to thank God for His faithfulness to us and to this beloved church, and to seek His direction for each of us and this church in the season ahead.

In the words of Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

Global Outreach
We as a church community are highly committed to a broad worldview of ministry. We are committed not only to sending financial support to missionaries and relief workers, but we are willing to go ourselves whenever possible to meet the needs of people around the globe. We are striving to bring the gospel message to the most unreached populations, and to alleviate poverty wherever we can make a difference, and to bring encouragement, comfort, relief, instruction or anything else that meets the needs of our international neighbors. For more information contact Kirt & Lonnie Priest at (408)358-9129.
Men's Discipleship
This program is designed to train and prepare men to actively disciple and mentor other men and teens in the lifestyle of Jesus Christ. The tie of friendship is critical in Christian discipleship and there is much to be gained from a focused and proactive pursuit of deepening and expanding ones skills and commitment on how to be the kind of man that has something to contribute to the spiritual life of a friend. This ministry is all about teaching and training men in the ways of discipleship. Russ Ikeda by email or phone (408)252-4691.
Men's Ministries
Men's Fellowship provides opportunities for fellowship with other men and serves the church and community through a variety of service projects.
Retreats, Seminars and Conferences
SFC creates opportunities to learn and grow through day and weekend retreats at the church and retreat centers. Many lives have been changed in dramatic ways through participation in these experiences. For more information, please contact Olivia DCosta by email or at (408) 867-1000, x246.
Small Groups
Small groups are a place where believers and inquirers can discuss their questions with other seekers, study the Bible together, develop friendships and find comfort in their daily walk. These groups are the backbone of SFC's strategy for growing together. For more information, please contact Rol and Camille Chapman by email.
Women's Bible Study Fellowship

Wednesdays, 9:20-11:10 am, beginning September 14

BSF, hosted at SFC since 1970, is an interdenominational, multi-generational and multi-cultural ministry that provides an opportunity and encouragement to study the Bible using a four-fold approach. There are daily questions for individual discovery of Biblical truth, lessons are discussed within a small group of fifteen women each week and are followed by live expository lectures and study notes to encourage personal application. Classes for children, from six weeks to age five, study the same lesson as the class member who brings them. The 2011-2012 class will study the Acts of the Apostles. To join us in fellowship and in discovering a deeper knowledge of and relationship with God, contact Char Paddack, 408-296-5904 or visit our website at bsfinternational.org.
Women's Ministries
The purpose of Women's Ministries is to create a hospitable environment where SFC women of all ages and life circumstances are known, affirmed, and accepted. In this fellowship, women can grow spiritually through Bible study, prayer, and fellowship and use their gifts and resources for service in the church, the community, and worldwide missions.
