Dear College, or Seminary Student,

I have an opportunity for you! How would you like to spend the summer doing one or more of the following activities?

Wrestling with Jr. High students in a pool
Leading small group Bible Studies
Water-skiing on the Sacramento Delta
Jr. High camp at Ponderosa Lodge, Mt. Hermon
Leading our Jr. High and Sr. High students in Vacation Bible School
Leading music
Being discipled and spending daily time in God's word
Leading Jr. High and Sr. High students in local outreach activities
Challenging students to follow Jesus

Does this sound like fun? Does this sound challenging?

Saratoga Federated Church is once again sponsoring a College Summer Intern Program. We will be able to hire 8 interns for the summer to work in either the Jr. High or High School program. Interns will work directly in Jr. High and Sr. High ministry by leading Bible studies, programs, activities and camps. You will also have the opportunity to lead our students in mission projects in downtown San Jose. I believe that this will offer you an excellent opportunity to gain some great experience in doing full time ministry. I know that you will be challenged and that God will bless you. This is a paid position, so we expect you to work full time for ten weeks. (The dates of this internship will depend upon your school schedule.)

I have enclosed a Job Description and an Application. If you are interested please turn in your application by March 1st. We have a *book written by our interns last year which includes highlights from their summer ministry experience. Summer Intern 2008

Why are we doing this?

To develop future Christian leaders.
To disciple, train and equip College students in youth ministry/ministry.

When?

Summer 2008
The actual dates will depend on when you get out of school and when you have to go back to school. The commitment is at least 10 weeks. Vacations or personal time must be taken either before or after the internship. There will be one Thursday-Saturday opportunities to have some vacation during the internship.

Compensation

$2,000 for the summer.
We will also find you a place to live with a family in the Church.
* You will need a car for this internship

Job Description

Discipleship

Three days a week discipleship meeting with the Pastor of Students and Children
Opportunity to develop a personal philosophy of ministry

Training in Ministry

One day a week training meeting with the Student Ministry Staff
Training from other SFC staff members and guest speakers

Ministry (Jr. High or Sr. High)

Weekly planning and involvement in Wednesday night and Sunday morning programs
Small group Bible Study
Planning and involvement in summer camps including High School Houseboats on the Delta and our Jr. High Road Rally
Planning and involvement in activities and pr

Mission

During the summer we are working with many mission groups in downtown San Jose
Our desire is to have students involved in many different types of mission experiences including:
- Kids Clubs
- Work Projects/Activities
