Christian Service Support Team
|
| The Christian Service Support team (CSS) is a
team established to manage funds dedicated to outreach. We call it
the Christian Service Support Team because it’s purpose is to
assist our members when they engage the world’s needs. When
members are called to adventures in ministry, we want them to have a
place to go with their vision. The team hears their story, considers
their conviction, and evaluates their ministry strategy. The
dialogue is often instructive to all participants. |
| If the CSS team is so led, it awards a CSS grant that
will enable the member to test his or her “call.” We want to be
a church that encourages the faithful, and supports the obedient.
So, as funds allow and when ministries are well conceived and
compelling, we want to remove the financial obstacles to service.
Since its formation, the CSS team has made sixteen grants. In
addition, the team sometimes guides applicants in the organization
and execution of their ministry. |
| The CSS team, after consultation with others, decides
which ministries will be the recipients of our Lenten and Advent
offering. When unique events and circumstances warrant, they
facilitate our special need offerings such as our collection for the
working poor affected by the September 11 disaster. Your
participation in these nineteen offerings has been exceptional. |
| Another wholly unanticipated joy has uplifted this
team. Some of our church members with rare sensitivity have made
eight unsolicited gifts to enable our compassionate outreach toward
particular needs. These donations have been fascinating and varied:
air miles for traveling missionaries, a truck for our community care
ministries, funds for specific human needs. Each instance of
generosity has required growth in our management process. |
| If you have questions or suggestions for the
Christian Service Support Team, its members are Craig Lewis, Mike
& Bev Poellot, Jim & Vi Ritchie, Al Trimble, Dale &
Arvin Engelson. They meet on the first Sunday each month. |
