Working With His Children
|
Tamara Smith and Rebecca Richardson
Tamara Smith and Rebecca Richardson have both felt God's call to
work with children who are abandoned and unloved by the world.
They both came to faith at an early age, and have sought out ways to
minister to children, in surprisingly similar ways. |
| Rebecca grew up in Ohio, and after graduating from
the University of Southern California, she served as a high school
intern at a church down there. For the past year, Rebecca has
worked at Advent Group Ministries, serving as a residential
counselor for six teenage girls. She has also served on short
term mission trips to Mexico and Ecuador. |
| Tamara grew up in Michigan, and graduated from
Cornerstone University there. She participated in overseas
mission trips to the Philippines and Scotland, and worked as a high
school intern for a year here at Saratoga Federated Church.
Tamara has also been working at Advent Group Homes for the past year
as a resident counselor in charge of six boys. |
| Members of our church discovered a ministry
opportunity while participating in an Albanian Health Fund ministry
trip last October. A home has been established by Scottish
missionaries in Tirana, Albania to care for 20 abandoned street
children. There is a need for full-time female staff.
Rebecca and Tamara are perfectly fitted to answer this call.
Through a Christian Service Support grant, Saratoga Federated Church
has provided a portion of the funding necessary to send them on a
short-term mission to work in Tirana, in associated with His
Children. This funding will enable Rebecca and Tamara to
explore their call to this ministry. Please pray for their
discernment as they seek to follow God's leading. |
| God desires that our compassion be discerning and
actively engaged: "He has told you, O
mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to
do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your
God." Micah 6:8 |
