Local Ministries Outreach at SFC
|
| SFC is very committed to supporting a variety of
different local outreach programs. On these pages you will find
information about some of the organizations and people that benefit
from the outreach programs at SFC. |
Community Care
Food for Working Poor Families - Many "working poor"
households have had their work hours reduced in the local economy.
Next Sunday, we will be collecting groceries between 8:30 AM and
noon. Look for the truck near the sidewalk in the Upper Parking Lot.
Friends Together will arrange the deliveries to families. A list of
items most useful and welcome is available in any church office and
the Narthex. Add this kindness to your regular shopping. Buy an
extra bag for a needy family when you shop. If you would rather make
a donation, Friends Together will do the shopping. |
Advent Group Ministries
Advent
Group Ministries is a team of Christians with a mission of
bringing hope, healing, and Christ's love to hurting children and
their families. We provide personal care through a professional
staff of counselors and social workers and a network of well trained
volunteers. |
City Team Ministries
City Team
Ministries is a non-profit organization serving the poor and
homeless in San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, Seattle,
Philadelphia and partnerships in over 7 other countries around the
world. Since 1957, City Team Ministries has provided life-saving
food, shelter, clothing, recovery programs, youth outreach, camp for
at-risk inner city kids, discipleship and other essential care 365
days a year. |
Downtown Ministry
This team serves the street people of San
Jose. Participants have taken to heart Jesus' words,
"I was hungry and you gave me something to
eat." For the past decade, members of the Downtown
Ministry team have quietly provided food and encouragement
each Thursday and Saturday morning to shelter residents and walk-in
homeless people in downtown San Jose. |
Nancy Lane Ministries
One of our community care teams has been operating in a variety
of ways to improve the quality of life in a particular San Jose
neighborhood. Volunteers at Nancy Lane
Ministries have been working with local residents in groups and
one-on-one, mentoring and tutoring adults and youth. This creative
project has been maturing and succeeding for many years. We
now are seeking more servants. |
