Ruth and Allen are Associates with Paraclete Mission Group and
serve as mentors to younger leaders. Paraclete Mission Group exists
to 'come alongside' mission agencies and churches worldwide, helping
them to more effectively share the message of God's love and
forgiveness with the least accessible people groups.
When asked, What compels you to give
your life to ministering in light of other options you may have had
regarding career and where to live? Ruth answered,
"I was raised in a Christian home where my parents had a strong
worldview. While in college, I led a weekly missions prayer group
that grew to more than 100 by my senior year. I always wanted to be
in some cross-cultural ministry and have been since I graduated and
married. I Allen, was brought up in a non-Christian family, however,
my parents were tuned into the world and shaped our thinking and
respect for all peoples. After I became a Christian I spent every
summer on short term mission trips. It has been an unbelievable
experience to be on the cutting edge of God's work in the world. We
believe this is the closest thing to God's heart - that all peoples'
groups in every nation come into the knowledge of the truth. There
were other paths we could have chosen for our life's work and other
offers afforded us, but the Lord kept us in what we view as our
calling."
