In
Europe, Steve and Renée focus primarily on discipling students
attending Black Forest Academy (BFA) in Kandern, Germany. Steve also
serves as team leader and treasurer for the OC missionary families
who work at BFA. Over the years, participation in local German
churches, a village choir, and relationships with neighbors have
given the Grubbs many opportunities for cross-cultural
relationships.
BFA is one of the few accredited boarding schools serving
missionaries resident as far as Russia, the Middle East, North
Africa and parts of Asia. Currently, over 200 students are in
dormitories and over 100 live with their families in the SW corner
region of Germany (bordering France and Switzerland). Steve and
Renée have had a variety of responsibilities at BFA, including
years of classroom teaching and live-in dorm parenting in a girls
dorm. Throughout their years in Germany, they have also been
involved in student community life activities, computer technical
assistance, and music ministry. They continue to promote/lead youth
service projects, missions trips and discipleship groups in a
variety of contexts. They see the leadership potential of these
students, and encourage them to disciple others toward growth in
Christian character, worship and prayer.
