Who
We Are
Steve was born/raised in S.Korea (missionary parents) and Renée
is a purebred California girl. Through nearly 30 years of marriage,
they have ministered together in church youth programs and music
groups since the beginning, even with infants in tow. Their two
adult children serve the Lord (in CO & KY), and a 1st grandchild
is on the way.
Steve and Renée have been missionaries with OC 25 years.
After 12 years in the home offices, they served another 12 years
in Germany. There they ministered in an international boarding
school community (to students, staff, church, German neighbors,
etc.), and Steve also had responsibilities in OC team leadership & financial
management.
Our New Context
We are now members of the OC Europe Area team, based in Worthing,
England. Two other OC leadership teams also work out of this location,
coordinating ministry in the UK and NAME (North Africa / Middle
East). There is a positive synergism in these groups working and
praying alongside each other. Also, there is occasional ministry
overlap as we aid each other in various projects, conferences,
events, etc.
Expanded Ministry Roles
- Member care – ongoing preparation, equipping, and empowering
of OC personnel for effective and sustainable life and ministry
- Marriage/family/children (including follow-up on older
MKs [missionary kids] away from home)
- Team relations (unity-building, conflict resolution, etc.)
- Cultural adaptation
- Youth & young adult mentoring and mobilization
- Field interim leadership – covering for team leaders during
turnover & other transitions
- Logistical support – financial accounting, IT assistance, residency
processing
- Assisting Area Director (coordinates OC Europe teams; church
planting consultant in broader context)
- Conferences drawing leaders and other missionaries from
Europe and NAME
- Church Planting Mobilization (CPM) Network
- BMB Symposiums (for Believers of Muslim Background)
- Retreats
- Training seminars for OC and other missionary personnel
- Orientation for non-N.American missionaries (recruited,
processed, supported outside USA)
- Field researchers, accountants, etc.
- Hospitality – home open to visiting missionaries, their children
and others seeking encouraging fellowship
Our "People Groups" (A diverse
mix with unique needs & challenges)
Missionaries and their families have a need for community (including
family and team unity), assistance and encouragement in cultural
adaptation, logistical support, prayer partnership, and mentoring.
Nearly 50% of OC Europe/NAME personnel are non-N.American, so face
further challenges in living with more limited finances and multi-cultural
team dynamics. When the children of missionaries face college/career
choices, and the subsequent transition to a lifestyle far away
from their parents, they especially need others to come alongside
them as they discover and process future directions.
Youth and young adults need motivation toward spiritual maturity,
as well as encouragement to stand firm in their faith and live
it with authenticity among their peers.
Local community members in the UK need to see the love of Christ
in a real way, to be led into a deepening relationship with Him.
Sincerity and unity in believers’ worship, prayer and fellowship
will draw others in. |
