Grief Ministries
|
| We believe that when we experience grief we enter
into a time of great potential for personal growth. These crises can
become dangerous opportunities for us to receive comfort and
encouragement as we step into new understandings and faith. Each one's
journey through the Valley of the Shadow is unique. The journey is
best when made with others. |
Early Bereavement Care
Grief Ministers accompany the pastor when he meets with the
family, represent the church in hosting the funeral/memorial
service, coordinate the involvement of other parishioners for family
meals, home watch, greeters/ushers, reception team, etc.. (Led by a
Care Deacon.) |
Grief Recovery Workshop
|
Six Sundays—April 19, 2009 through May 31, 2009
(excluding Mother's Day, May 10)
4:00—5:30pm in Douglass Hall
|
|
The Grief Ministry is providing a workshop on self-care for those
who are grieving, and care for others who are suffering a loss. Come
for your own sake or for the benefit of another. Care-recipients and
care-providers will grow together. Consider attending with a friend.
|
|
Sessions will include practical tools, stories shared by those further along the same
road, spiritual guidance, recommended resources and fellowship with others living
the same experience. While our focus will be on bereavement, the workshop will
be helpful to those recovering from the loss of a marriage. Divorcees are welcome.

|
This workshop will be facilitated by Arvin Engelson, Pastor of Care Ministries.
