Pastor Gabe's Transition
From the Council of Elders
The Council of Elders has accepted Gabe’s resignation with reluctant and heavy hearts. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.” We believe strongly that God has a plan for Gabe, and we appreciate and respect Gabe’s need to follow where God is leading him. We hope you will join us in loving the Gilliam family well as they traverse this liminal season.
We rely upon that same trust in God as we seek to discover the path God has for our church. We expect that He has a candidate in mind to fill the position of teaching pastor at Saratoga Federated Church. The Council of Elders and the Nominating Committee are in the process of selecting a Search Committee to find that person, and to lead Saratoga Federated Church forward along the journey that God has set out for us. We are confident in God’s faithful provision, which he has demonstrated to us consistently over our almost 100-year history.
As you know, finding the right person can take some time. For the short term, the Staff and Elders are already in the process of seeking an interim preacher who can take over teaching on Sunday mornings, in an effort to continue the Spirit-led, insightful and relevant teaching that we have been so fortunate to have for many years. Additionally, Tim, Sally, Bill, and Arvin have generously offered to fill in the gaps by preaching on a rotating schedule for a season while the interim preacher is sought.
As Gabe said so eloquently, endings are never easy. We were blessed to have Gabe with us for this season of his life, and we will miss him and his family dearly, but we serve a wise and loving God who has purposes beyond our understanding. We ask for your prayers for the Gilliam family, our church, its pastors and Elders, and the search team as we navigate this transition together.
In His Name,
Council of Elders,
Saratoga Federated Church
