Pastor Gabe's Transition
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is Gabe leaving SFC?
The answer to that is best expressed in Gabe’s own words, in his letter to the congregation or in the video of his August 5th announcement.
Q: What’s next for Saratoga Federated Church?
The Nominating Committee will recommend a Search Committee to seek a new pastor. That process is underway and we hope to move quickly to begin the search. We believe strongly that God has a person in mind to fill this role at SFC. However, we are also mindful that finding the right person could take some time. We will update the congregation regularly on our progress as the process unfolds, and updates will be posted on this webpage.
Q: Who is going to preach on Sundays while we find the new pastor?
Gabe will teach through the end of September. After Gabe leaves, our pastoral staff will rotate preaching responsibilities through the end of the year. By the end of the year, the Council of Elders hopes to have in place an Interim Preacher who will prepare and deliver Sunday sermons at all three services until the permanent new pastor is found.
Q: How long do you expect the search for a new pastor to take?
It is difficult to pinpoint an exact time frame. We have been advised that these searches can take from five months to a year. The Council of Elders is committed to making this process as smooth and efficient as possible, and is working to thoroughly equip and inform the Search Committee so that it can begin its work immediately upon appointment.
Q: Can I volunteer for the Search Committee?
Any suggestions for Search Committee members should be directed to the Nominating Committee as soon as possible.
Q: How can I give input into the criteria for a new pastor?
The best way to give input is to contact the Council of Elders. Once a Search Committee is appointed, we will notify the congregation of how to contact them with recommendations.
Q: How can I help?
We ask that you please pray for guidance in the search process. Please pray for wisdom and discernment for the Council of Elders, the Nominating Committee and the Search Committee. Please pray for the families of our church leadership, our pastors and our staff, as this process is likely to be more time-consuming and taxing than their regular duties. And thank God for His ongoing faithfulness and guidance to Saratoga Federated Church.
Q: If I have questions or concerns that are not answered here, to whom should I direct them?
To the Council of Elders.
