Our Core of Belief is fundamental to
Christianity. We accept this as Christians, upon which we base
all else, and which is the target for belief towards which we
help others to grow. It can be articulated in different ways.
One expression is the following:
I Believe in one God, who made all things and who, although
infinite and holy, yet offers me a real and personal
relationship, forgiving my sins.
I Believe in the life, death, resurrection and saving power
of Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God who took on
human form because of me, a sinner, to act as the bridge to
God.
I Believe in the Holy Spirit, the third member of the
three-in-one God, who will teach and guide me if I will let
Him.
I Believe God will reveal the truth to me individually as I
prayerfully read His word, the Bible, which is my authority
about Him and life here and now.
I Accept that I am limited and imperfect, a creature of
God, yet in His image; commanded to worship, study and pray,
and above all, to love Him and love people around me with His
help. It is through people like me that God acts, and I must
be about my Father’s work.
I Believe that the Church was instituted by God and can be
led by the Holy Spirit to transform a group of such limited
and imperfect creatures into a Body of Christ by which we can
more effectively grow and act. |
