About TithingThe word, "tithe" literally means tenth or 10%. A tithe is the first 10% of your income. An offering is anything you give above and beyond the 10%. We believe the Bible teaches we should all tithe to our local church.
When you click on Set up a regular tithe here you will be taken to our secure Saratoga Federated Church Pushpay website, where you can enter your personal information, bank information and set up a recurring donation. |
Why Do We Tithe? |
More About Giving |
The Bible says, The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives. (Deuteronomy 14:23) Tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have. It is also God's personal invitation to an outpouring of his blessing in your life.
In Malachi 3:10, God says this: "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." This is the only place in Scripture where God tells us to put him to the test. In other words, he's saying, "Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out-give me." |
At Saratoga Federated Church, we believe Scripture teaches that everything we are and have is a gift from God - our time, talent and treasure.
Psalm 24 says: “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell therein.” Yes, even WE are the Lord’s, whether we acknowledge this truth or choose to run away to a supposedly independent life. God wants us to be good stewards of his blessings. Matthew 6:19-21 points out that we can’t take it with us when we die, but we can send it on ahead! “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy...but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven...” And how then do we store up treasures in heaven? 1Timothy 6:18-19 provides a clear answer: “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age...” |
