New Ministries for Virus Crisis
We have formed an on-call tech support team to help you connect to our church. They can help enable you to watch the weekly online church services or help you get email up and running so that you get various timely updates from the church and more! (see some additional examples below)
If you would like help with email or watching our Sunday service videos, or know someone else who does, simply call the church office at (408) 867-1000 and when it offers to let you enter an extension number, enter 265. Then leave a detailed message at extension 265 including your name and phone number. One of our tech volunteers should respond to you within 6 to 24 hours.
Here are some examples of things you can do online. Tip: Most of these activities can be done from a smart phone.
- Set-up an online account with Uber, Lyft, Amazon and Netflix.
- Visit family and friends with video chats on Skype or Zoom
- Order groceries or dinner delivered to your home.
- Have your prescriptions mailed to your home.
- Communicate with your doctor.
To setup or use Zoom for video conferencing, go to the Zoom website where you will find instructional videos. Or you can contact our Tech support team to help.
As a reminder, you may access Sunday’s service by going to www.saratogafederated.org. Once the page loads, scroll down until you see a box with Watch This Week’s Online Service. Click on the text and the page should change to show the video ready to start. You start the video by clicking on the arrow, which can usually be found in the center or the lower left corner of the video area. If you choose this before Sunday, you will be offered last week’s service. The new Sunday service is available from Sunday morning forward.
We have formed a volunteer team that can assist those in our congregation who are unable to shop for themselves or are immune compromised. Our team will assist with grocery shopping, curbside pick-up/delivery of pre-ordered groceries, and retrieving and delivering prescriptions that cannot be acquired through the mail. To place a request for assistance, dial the church office at (408) 867-1000 and when it offers to let you enter an extension number, enter 266. Then leave a detailed message at extension 266 including your name and phone number. Robyn Swan or another volunteer should respond to you within one weekday.
Volunteers for the shopping and transport ministry must be older than 18 and younger than 60, and not have underlying health issues. Qualifications were formed during consultation with infectious disease MD. Let our Care Ministry know if you’re interested.
